Feizor Refreshments

Refreshments in Feizor

Gloves On
To Feizor

Sunday and we decided a short walk to an eating establishment would be in order. We parked at the top of the "old" road from Settle to Austwick - Buck Haw Brow on the B6480, underneath the crags of Giggleswick Scar. We turned off the A65 at 12:04hrs according to my Dashcam, when footage was reviewed later.

Fields to Feizor

After nearly a week of dry weather, the ground is easy to walk on, more so because of the limestone bedrock. After the next gate, the path veers right and the line of such can be seen.

Paths merge and the alternative one is to/from Stackhouse - a route we used on a previous occasion. That's Ingleborough over there.

Now, if there is a better walkers' cafe that allows for dogs anywhere else in North Yorkshire, please get in touch and let me know. This place is a gem! It is a pity in a way that some visitors arrive by car, everyone should walk to Feizor and be rewarded by a visit to the tearooms.

After "Sunday" lunch, we took the same route back.

Rourke's Drift

Zulu

Like a scene from "Zulu", figures appeared over the hill and marched in our direction. It soon became apparent that these were walkers and not warriors; poles and rucksacs for spears and shields.

Sheep on a Wall

Pendle Hill

Familiar territory to the south. It transpired that a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the "Austwick Bends" at approx. 12:10hrs. We saw three police vehicles travel over the brow under blue lights and wondered what was going on. I reviewed my dashcam footage just in case there was any road activity which might help the police with their enquiries, but there was nothing untoward. A sad day; "Gio" was a retired fireman and a customer of the tearooms as Elaine has revealed (on Facebook).

The walk to Feizor is 1.5 miles each way and 2 x Sunday Lunch plus tea came to £20 or near enough. The food was excellent; service attentive and prompt; interior well appointed with good view of the industrious activity in the kitchen. You must go! But not all at once.

Later, I drove to Cliviger to watch a steam-hauled charter train:

Tin Bath

"Tin Bath"

The "Tin Bath" is an annual (or thereabouts) excusion along the metals of Lancashire and Yorkshire, usually heading home on the Calder Valley line, up the Copy Pit incline to Burnley and back to Preston.
